Western Star grew rapidly in the 1980s as demand increased for mining, heavy-duty logging, and oil transportation trucks. The plant in Kenowa, British Columbia grew to 25,000 square feet of manufacturing space as well as 50,000 square feet of warehousing. By the end of the 1990s into the early 2000s, Western Star's forward-thinking and driver-centric approach made it the primary producer of heavy duty trucks in the world, where it still stands today.
